Wekiva High School's Laser Photonics Academy Magnet is a four-year dual enrollment program offering courses in analog and digital circuits, photonics, lasers, and data communication. Enrollment open to students entering 9th and 10th grades.
WHAT IS LASER AND PHOTONICS ABOUT?
These terms represent changing the form of energy. Lasers use electrical energy to produce light while photonic devices sense and convert light energy into electricity. Optical systems consisting of mirrors and lenses allow us to manipulate light for use in a wide range of applications-manufacturing, healthcare, telecommunications, military, aerospace, and many others.
